Dr. Kien Nghi Ha

Born 1972 in Hanoi (Vietnam) as part of the Chinese minority. 1979: Arrival in West-Berlin as "boat-people" refugee 1987: German citizenship 1991-1998: Studies in political sciences at Otto-Suhr-Institut (FU Berlin) 1995: Grant of the ASA-program (Carl-Duisberg-Society) to work on the project "Adoleszente Labour Migration and Urban Child Labour in Hanoi". 2001-2004: Scholarhip granted by the Heinrich-Böll-Foundation for my dissertation projekt "Hybridity and Postcolonial Dicourse" 2009: received his Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from University of Bremen: "Unrein und vermischt. Postkoloniale Grenzgänge durch die Kulturgeschichte der Hybridität und der kolonialen ´Rassenbastarde´" (transcript Verlag 2010) 2009: Visiting Scholar at the Asian/Pacific/America-Institute at New York University 2009-10: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Graduate Programme For Transcultural Studies (GPTS), Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context. Shifting Asymmetries in Cultural Flows", University of Heidelberg 2010: Curator of the Programme "Vietnamesische Diaspora and Beyond", Hebbel am Ufer Theater (Berlin) 2010: Guest-editor of the special issue "Made in Germany", die tageszeitung, 07.12.2010, together with Hatice Akyün, Mo Asumang, Imran Ayata, Sevim Dagdelen, Pegah Ferydoni, Dunja Hayali, Jeannine Kantara, Feridun Zaimoglu and other 2011: Visiting Professor at the Asian-Orient-Institut, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen 2011: received the Augsburger Wissenschaftspreis für Interkulturelle Studien 2011 2011: Curator of the Programme "Asian Food as Cultural Practice, Exoticism and Commodofiction in the Age of Migration" within the Asian-Pacific-Weeks 2011 (House of World Cultures Berlin)
