Expert
Dr. Ricard Morén - Alegret
PhD, University of Warwick, 1999. He has been awarded by the European Commission DG-XII as Marie Curie Research Fellow (1996-1999) and the Spanish Government Science and Technology Ministry as Investigador Ramón y Cajal (2001-2006). Currently, he is Tenured Associate Professor at the Geography Department, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where is also co-director of the Migration Research Group. Furthermore, he is Associate Researcher of the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations, University of Warwick, and IMISCOE. In addition, he is also the Coordinator of GRM "Consolidated and Funded Research Group" (SGR Program 2009-2013, AGAUR, Catalonia Government).
Ricard Morén is expert in organisations´ geography, integration processes and migration movements at local, regional, national and European scale. He has coordinated several fieldworks in a diversity of metropolitan, rural and semi-rural regions in Spain, Portugal, Great Britain and France. Furthermore, he was member of the Organizing Committee of the IV Congreso sobre la Inmigración en España (2004) and he has directed the organization of the International Workshop on Foreign Immigration in Small Towns and Rural Areas (2006).
On the other hand, he was Principal Investigator (PI) of the R+D project titled "Foreign immigration, sense of place and territorial identity in five small towns in Spain" (2006-2009), funded by the Spanish Ministry for Science and Education. One of its outcomes is the popular science documentary video titled "Iberiana", written and directed by Ricard Morén himself (see http://geografia.uab.es/migracions/eng/index.htm).
Currently, he is PI of the R+D project "Immigrants’ integration and the role of a diversity of organizations in achieving sustainable small towns and rural areas" (2010-2012), funded by the Spanish Science and Innovation Ministry, and he collaborates as referee and reviewer with research institutions at international and national level.
