Expert
Vesela Kovacheva
Vesela Kovacheva was born in Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria). She studied International Relations at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia (2002-2006) and holds a master degree in European Studies from Europa-Kolleg Hamburg and the University in Hamburg (2006-2007). Since 2007 she is researcher in the research area "Demography, Migration and Integration" at the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI). She has collaborated in several research projects and specialized in the fields of intra-EU mobility and irregular migration. Since September 2011 Ms. Kovacheva is a Ph.D. candidate in political sciences and economic policy at the University of Münster and conducts her doctoral research on the integration of EU citizens in Germany using the example of Bulgarian migrants. She holds a scholarship of the ZEIT-Foundation Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius in the Bucerius Ph.D. program in Migration Studies "Settling into Motion".
