Dr. Parminder Bakshi-Hamm

Born in India, having studied and worked in the UK, and now settled in Germany, Parminder Bakshi-Hamm is an expert on migration and labour market issues, as well as gender and culture themes. Other interests include migrant communities in Europe, highly qualified migrants, gender and mobility, stereotyping in selection practices, equality and diversity in recruitment and service provision, ethnic monitoring, local governance, organisational change. Currently working on issues of social mobility in second and third generation migrants in Germany, and the position of minority women scientists in German universities. She has worked on several comparative projects, some of which were funded by the EU. She is a founding member of a European wide network on migrant/minority women scientists. She has also worked as a consultant to government and private sector organisations in UK and Germany. In 2009 and 2010, she acted as a referee for the EU programmes under FP6 and FP7.
